December 2021 Update

First Graduating Class! The First graduating class of Betty Memorial Institute (BMI) completed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in September, 2021 along with seniors from other schools in Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia. Students must pass this exam in order to graduate. Six students make up this first ever graduating class at BMI. A truly historical milestone for them and BMI.

Solar Power Station is Operational! Many thanks to all who generously donated to the BMI Solar Power Station. The system is fully paid for, installed and operational at BMI. Pastor Varney stated in a summary of the commissioning test, “I want to use this opportunity to express our thanks and appreciation. Solar power has been installed at BMI. At day time, we can have 15.75kwh while at night we have a battery bank capacity of 48kwh. We tried the current load of the entire campus yesterday from 7PM to 6AM and we did not even use 50% of the power available. This is huge for us. This will save plenty of funds for many years at BMI.” He recently added in a phone conversation, “when we use the welders, it doesn’t even shake it!” Amen! What a blessing... reliable electric power. Thanks again for prayers and partnership in this initiative.
